I recently watched a documentary made by Micheal Moore, called Slacker Uprising. That showed his attempt to elect John Kerry in 2004 and get W out of office and hopefully preempt the situation that we are in right now. As we all know that did not work, except that Kerry won in the age bracket that I would like to still consider myself (18-29) even though as of September I am no longer in that bracket. Basically young people in college who are notorious for not voting.
The film that is completely free is available for download or viewing if you go to www.slackeruprising.org. If you don’t want to email the link to a bunch of friends you can watch it on streaming at Amazon or download it for free from iTunes.
Basically it documents Micheal Moore’s attempt to rally the swing states and make sure that W did not get another 4 years. We all know that did not work, but I do have to say that the video made me want to do even more that just vote. It made me want to make sure that my voice was heard. And reminded me that the Constitution says, ” Of the People, for the People” I think the big thing that has jaded people even before they came of voting age is the stupid he said/she said bull crap that has imbibed the presidential election process.
Personally I just got old enough to not deal with high school drama and the one thing that is a huge theme of the electorial process is high school drama. I like that Sen. Obama doesn’t relaiate with such juvinile behavior. I want a grown up in the office and not someone that I think will sucumb to peer pressure. And I feel that Obama is our man for the job.
So please go to Slacker Uprising. And then vote. We are all responsible for the person that is to take the office of President.
